Ekene Awazie set to depart Enyimba
Enyimba forward Ekene Awazie will leave the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) giants when his contract expires at the end of June, bringing an end to his four-year stay with the club.
Awazie, who joined the People's Elephant from FC IfeanyiUbah after the 2020/21 NPFL season, confirmed his impending departure in an interview with Extrasportnigeria.com. The winger revealed that he has decided against extending his contract with the nine-time Nigerian champions ahead of the new season.
"I will leave Enyimba when my contract expires at the end of this month," Awazie said.
During his time at the Aba-based club, the pacey and skilful attacker made 112 league appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists.
Awazie was also a key member of the Enyimba squad that clinched the 2022/23 NPFL title under the guidance of former head coach Finidi George, helping the club secure its ninth league crown.
His departure marks the end of a notable chapter with Enyimba as he prepares for the next stage of his career.
