2013 Champions league: Al-Ahly, Orlando Pirates qualify for semi-finals

Al-Ahly of Egypt and Orlando Pirates of South Africa Sunday qualified for the semi-finals of the 2013 CAF Champions league after the final group matches played this weekend across Africa.

Orlando Pirates drew 0-0 with Al-Ahly to ensure qualification for both teams on 8 and 11 points respectively, with the South Africans displacing AC Leopards of Congo from the second spot on Group A table.

The other Egyptian club, Zamalek, took a consolation 4-1 win over AC Leopards but both sides waved goodbye to the competition.

Orlando Pirates, who emerged runners up in Group A, will meet Esperance of Tunisia, winners of Group B, in the semi-finals.

The other semi-final clash will be between Cotopn Sport of Cameroon, runners up in Group B, and Al-Ahly, the Group A winners.

Al-Ahly and Esperance, as winners of their respective groups, will host the second leg of the two-leg semi-finals (the first leg coming up 4-6 October and the second leg 18-20 October).
