2013 Fed Cup: Ifeanyi Ede Fires Enyimba Past Lobi to final
Enyimba have qualified for the final of the 2013 Federation Cup after a hard fought 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin.
Enyimba goalkeeper Femi Thomas was forced to pull a Bassey Akpan effort in the 26th minute to keep the situation under control. Lobi got their first corner in the 32nd minute and Nwaogu’s brilliant header beats Thomas in goal, but not the cross bar.
Enyimba were forced to make an early change, with Josiah Maduabuchi taken off for Chimezie Amanfor.
As the search for goal continues, Andrew Abalogu fails to convert a chance after a nice work from Amanfor.
The atmosphere in Benin was changed when Ifeanyi Ede gave Enyimba the lead in the 58th minute, thanks to a beautiful effort to set the tune for a Lagos final.
Lobi Stars intensified their search for an equalizer with Nanen Imenger getting in for Emmanuel Ajia, who’s performance has been questionable on the night.
Enyimba never wanted to rely on the one goal lead as they introduced the club’s top scorer Sibi Gwar who replaced Andrew Abalogu.
Coach Salisu Yusuf continued his changes with Mohammed Bala coming in for Ayo Saka. And the People’s Elephant held on to book September 15 final with the winner between Akwa United and Warri Wolves.
