2013 Women Fed Cup Wrap : Confluence Queens Blast FC Real Dynamos in Benin

Confluence Queens of Lokoja in grand style advance to the quarter-final of the Women 2013 Federation Cup after firing five past FC Real Dynamos at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin on Saturday.

The duo of Chioma Wogu Success and Remilekun Omamuli grabbed two goals each while Ene Onoja scored once to complete five to hand Confluence Queens the clinical victory in the early kick-off.

Later in Benin, Delta Queens were ruthless as they roasted C.I. Angels to book a place in the last eight.

The biggest clash of the Round of 16 took place in Owerri, Imo state where the defending champions River Angels and south-South rival, Ibom Angels traded tackle with the Akwa Ibom based ladies booted out 9-8 in a stalled penalties duel despite keeping their neigbours, Rivers off the goal area in regulation time.

In other centres, Taraba Queens earned a 2-0 win over division counterparts, Osun Babes while Inneh Queens suffered the biggest upset to have crashed out of the tournament at the expense of their city rivals and newly established Women club, Martin White Doves 5-4 on penalties after a barren draw at full time.

In Lokoja, Nasarawa Amazons edged out Akure based Sunshine Queens 4-2 on penalties after both sides failed to find the back of the net at full time while Pelican stars dumped out FCT Queens without kicking the ball as the earned a walk-over against the Abuja based ladies who failed turn-up.

The last eight women club sides standing are: Confluence Queens, Delta Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Martin White Doves, Ibom Angels, Bayelsa Queens, Taraba Queens and Pelican stars.
