2014 World Sickle Cell day: “Lets break the sickle cell cycle” – Halima Wada

Kogi State First Lady, Hajia Halima Wada has urged Nigerians to break the sickle cell cycle by knowing your genotype before falling in love.
The Wife of the Kogi State Governor who was represented by Lareity Abubakar, the Coordinator of Kogi Women Empowerment Network (KOWEN), stated this during the celebration of world sickle cell day in Lokoja on Thursday.
She said as the grand patron of Hope Aglow for Life and Children Health Initiative,the only sickle cell in the state joins the association to celebrate 2014 World Sickle cell day and advice all Sundry to join the association’s race to break the sickle cell cycle all over the world.
In a speech by the Director of Hope Aglow for Life and Children Health Initiative, Dr Patricia Medupin, who is the organizer of the world sickle cell day in Lokoja said the theme of day is “The sickle cell disease; the fact and the myths hence a sickle cell disease free Nigeria is possible but it begins from you”.
The director said the basis for the initiative is to help support sickle cell carriers and parents to mark the 2014 world sickle cell day is that all should join the race to break the sickle cell cycle, know your Genotype before falling in love,show love to people with sickle cell diseases and support Hope Aglow sickle cell club.
