2014WCQ: Oduamadi Plots To Deflame Malawi In Calabar

Super Eagles forward, Nnamdi Oduamadi, who plays for Italian side, Brescia, is aware of the challenges of facing the Flames of Malawi but remains optimistic of a favourable result on Saturday, as both teams slogs the qualification for the play-off round of the 2014 World Cup out.

The African champions lead Group F by nine points, followed by Malawi with seven points. Namibia are on five points, while Kenya are bottom of the log with three points.

Nigeria needs a draw to qualify for the two-legged play-off round of the qualifiers while Malawi will be
gunning for a rare victory.

The first leg of this encounter in Blantyre last year June ended one goal apiece and Oduamadi insists the Super Eagles will not “underrate” their opponents as they bid to make Brazil 2014.

“We are not underrating them, I know they have been preparing for the game even playing pranks on us. Their coach has been boasting they will come to Nigeria to upset us, that’s just his wish but we are more than ready to silence them,” said Odu.

“We are taking the game as a cup final. They will have nothing to say by the time we hammer them big time.

“I am not disputing their potentials, I am not underrating them, but we deserve some respect. If they think they want to come to Calabar to embarrass us, we are ready to disgrace them and we will prove that on the pitch,” he added.

Nigeria has emerged victorious on four previous occasions they played the Flames of Malawi and are yet to lose against their ‘noisy’ opponents.
