Daniels who made the disclosure in an interview in Lokoja said anointed candidates were handpicked by the leadership of the party in the state.

Prince Abubakar Audu, he said had never wanted the primaries to take place in Mopamuro, Ijumu, and Yagba East local governments as he insisted on consensus for his anointed candidates, which the other aspirants out rightly rejected.

The legislator explained that officials were sent from APC National headquarters in Abuja to conduct free and fair election “and on their arrival they called all the aspirants to notify us that there would be primaries.

“We all moved to our various constituencies waiting for election materials that never came because they were hijacked by hoodlums at the point of distribution.

“Even in Yagba West where they managed to secure election materials and election were conducted and an anointed candidate scored only 4 votes, Audu still went ahead to manipulate the result and inserted his candidate.

“These are the kind of primaries that were conducted in APC House of Assembly election in Kogi west and the reason why the Kogi west Senatorial election’s result was rejected by INEC.

“In spite the fact that they only allowed a re-run in Yagba East after several complaints, the leader still went ahead and put the name of their own candidate who did not actually win the election,” said Daniel.

He urged INEC, APC National headquarters and all the stakeholders to do the needful to salvage the rottenness in primary elections in this nation, stressing the need for free and fair election at all stages.

NAN reports that Daniels had since defected to Accord Party and has also secured State House of Assembly ticket to contest for Mopa-Amuro constituency in the 2015 general elections.

Speaking on his chances of securing victory for his new party in the general election, Daniel said: “My relationship with my constituents is very cordial because they love me.”

“My people want me to go for second term under any party because they are reciprocating the achievements of my first term.

“Majority of them confirmed that since inception of the House of Assembly with members representing Mopa-Muro, they have never witnessed the kind of development they experienced during my tenure.

“With the little achievements I have been able to accomplish, I am optimistic that I will surely come out victorious in the general election,” he said.

Daniels advised the politicians to always play by the rule of the game, saying that the country belonged to all of us and urged that they should not over-heat the polity.

He urged that they desist from use of thugs in any elections so that peace could be sustained and enable conduct of peaceful, free and fair election adding that winners should accommodate the losers and the loser should be gallant in accepting defeat. (NAN)
