Sarah Hanffou is not only competing at the 2016 ITTF Premier Lotto Nigeria Open, she is giving back to the society through her NGO, Pings Sans Frontières when she donated some equipment to the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF).

At the colourful but short event held at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of Teslim Balogun, an elated Sarah Hanffou told the fans at the venue that she decided to give back to the society in order to help promote and develop the game.

“This is part of the mission of my NGO to support table tennis in Africa and Nigeria being one of the important table tennis playing nations in Africa I feel I should support more growth of the sport. This is my first time in Nigeria and for me I think I have not been disappointed with the abundant of talents that the players possess.

Segun Toriola and Olufunke Oshonaike have decided to be our ambassadors and it is important for me to support the young ones in Nigeria.”

“We hope that through Toriola and Oshonaike the vision of our NGO can be promoted in Nigeria with more young people embracing table tennis because it is a wonderful tool of education and conveys values that I deeply believe in. I hope these young players will have opportunity to enjoy themselves through table tennis,” she said.

In his remarks, President of NTTF, Wahid Enitan Oshodi commended Sarah Hanffou for setting up such organisation to help popularise the sport in Africa. “I know Sarah Hanffou is a great ambassador of Africa and for us in Nigeria her NGO is the best to have happened to the continent and we hope it can be taken across the continent. On behalf of the board of NTTF, I want to thank her for considering Nigeria and I hope our top players can use their wealth of experience to support the NGO in realising its vision.”
