2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier: Egypt name 25 players squad for Nigeria game


Héctor Cúper, head coach of Egypt’s senior national team has called up 23 players for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Nigeria.

The nine players from both Al Ahly and Zamalek were invited to add up to the five European-based players earlier called for the crucial double header tie. Also invited are Ismaily’s Marwan Mohsen, who has 10 goals this season, and Smouha’s Ibrahim Salah.

Those five foreign-based called Mohamed Salah of AS Roma, Mohamed Elneny of Arsenal, Ahmed Hassan Koka of Sporting Braga and Amr Warda of Panetolikos.

The Super Eagles will host the Pharaohs in the first leg in Kaduna on March 25 with the return leg billed to hold four days later in Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria on March 29.

Egypt leads Group G with six points, two points ahead of Nigeria from the same number of matches with five goals advantage.

Goalkeepers: Mohamed El-Shennawy (Petrojet), Essam El-Hadary (Wadi Degla), Ahmed El-Shennawy (Zamalek).

Defenders: Ahmed Hegazy, Rami Rabia, Sabry Rahil (Al Ahly), Ali Gabr, Hazem Emam, Hamada Tolba, Ahmed Dewidar, Omar Gaber (Zamalek).

Midfielders: Abdallah El-Said, Hossam Ghaly, Ramadan Sobhy (Al Ahly), Mahmoud Hassan (Anderlecht),
Mohamed Elneny (Arsenal FC), Amr Warda (Panetolikos), Ibrahim Salah (Smouha), Ayman Hefny, Mostafa Fathi, Tarek Hamed (Zamalek)

Forwards: Amr Gamal (Al Ahly), Ahmed Hassan ‘Koka’ (SC Braga), Marwan Mohsen (Ismaily), Mohamed Salah (AS Roma).
