N50.9B FG Bailout: Kogi Govt set aside N45.9B to off-set outstanding salaries

Kogi State Government has said that N45.9 billion from the N50.9billion it is expecting as bail out funds from the federal government is to cater for outstanding salaries for workers in the 21 local government areas of the state.
Kogi state Deputy governor, Yomi Awoniyi, stated this in Ihima, Okehi LGA, while on a visit to meet with PDP stakeholders.
Awoniyi said what is due to the state government from the bail out money is N45.9billion, said despite the challenge in getting the funds, workers in the state would be the greatest beneficiaries of the funds when it is finally released.
Awoniyi disclosed that the money owed workers in the state was occasioned by a drastic drop in allocation to all tiers of government, and not mismanagement as is being speculated in certain quarters.
Awoniyi used the visit to commend the people of central senatorial district for being fantastic during the just concluded PDP governorship primary, said there action gives hope ahead the forth coming governorship election in the
state for the PDP.
While Awoniyi described people of central senatorial district as people who are vital in the political dynamics of the state, he said Capt Idris Wada remains committed to the power rotation principles being clamored for in the state.
Awoniyi charged the older generation living in the state to enlighten the younger generation of the antecedents of the major gladiators in the forth coming governorship election, described Capt Idris Wada, the PDP flag bearer as what the state needs to move the state to the next level of development.
Earlier in their remarks, Hon Abdulrahman Danga, SSA1, Okehi LGA, called for an improvement in the remuneration of workers at the council, as well as the rehabilitation of Okene- Obehira, Obangede- Ihima road as well as the Central market, describing the area as a PDP stronghold since 1998, and assured of delivering the area for the PDP in the november governorship election.
