60 female students poisoned in Afghanistan – Police


The Police in Rustaq district of northern Afghanistan’s Takhar province have disclosed that about sixty students of a girl school were mysteriously poisoned.

The Police Spokesman in the province, Abdul Asir stated that the grade seven to 12 of Mir Mulai Girl School in Rustaq district were poisoned around 10 a.m on Wednesday.

Asir said the real cause of the poisoning is yet unknown as investigation had been initiated to determine the reason for the problem.

He said the affected students had been taken to hospital for medical treatment.

According to the official, this is the second incident of poisoning in Takhar province within two weeks.

He said in the previous incident which occurred in the same district on April 19, a total of 62 students of a girl school were poisoned and the vomiting caused them to fall unconscious for several hours.
