Abia Warriors edge Enyimba to Abia FA Cup title

In a clash between two top-flight Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) teams, Abia Warriors edged Enyimba on penalties to win the 2024 Abia State FA Cup.

Regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw taking the game into the lottery of spot kicks.

Meme Okike scored from a close range for Abia Warriors off Ojonugwa Adejoh’s freekick in the 35th minute.

In the 73rd minute, the People’s Elephant equalised from Joseph Atule’s long-range strike.

Abia Warriors won the game of wills 4-2 on penalties to win the title and qualify for the Federation Cup.

They will play at the national version of the FA Cup (Federation Cup) as Abia State representatives alongside Enyimba FC.

The Federation Cup also served as an avenue for teams to qualify for the second-tier CAF Confederation Cup.

Champions of the Federation Cup automatically pick a ticket for the 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup.
