Adams Oshiomhole’s aide tasks NNPC on petrol scarcity

Chairman and Executive Director of Edo State Petroleum Monitoring Committee, Comrade Soni Idaghagbon has called on the Management of the Benin Depot of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to put in place adequate machinery to end the scarcity of petroleum products in the state.

Idahagbon who sued for the co-operation of stakeholders in the Petroleum Industry made his position known yesterday when he visited the leadership of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Benin Depot and other stakeholders at the Depot in Benin City.nnpc

Addressing the Depot Manager, Engineer Musa and other Stakeholders, the Executive Director/Chairman, Petroleum Monitoring, Comrade Ehiosu said “I am here with other members of my committee to acquaint ourselves with the operations of the Benin Depot, to forge a synergy of co-operation to ensure that petroleum products are available to Edo State Consumers at regulated prices”.

He said, “Let me also seize this opportunity to inform stakeholders in the Petroleum distribution industry that there is no controversy about the leadership of Petroleum Monitoring in Edo State, I am in charge and you should therefore discontinuance any group of people parading themselves as Chairman or Committee members here and there”..

He commended the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for the continuous support enjoyed by the committee in the supply and monitoring of petroleum products in the state.

Responding, the Depot Manager, NNPC, Benin Depot, Engineer Musa congratulated the Executive Director/Chairman for his appointment and promised on behalf of other members to collaborate with the Committee Chairman and his team in ensuring harmonious working relationship.

He stated some major challenges faced by workers in the depot to include irregular supply of Petroleum, vandalization of petroleum pipelines supplying petroleum products to the depot and the outdated equipment at the depot and called for government assistance.

On his part, the Chairman, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN) represented by Comrade Joju Olarenwaju advised the new chairman against unnecessary harassment of marketers by members of the committee.
