Nigerian wrestling sensation, Oduayo Adekuoroye helped her Indian club, Mumbai Garuda beat Punjab Royals 5-2 in their opening game of the Pro Wrestling League (PWL) at the KD Jadhav Wrestling Stadium, Delhi.

The two-time African Champion eased past Punjab’s Priyanka Phogat 10-2 in the 53kg as Mumbai swept home all the bouts in the women’s section in the competition regarded as the richest wrestling event ever on Thursday.

Other Mumbai female winner includes United States’ multiple world champion Adeline Gray (69kg), who defeated Belarusian Vasilisa Marzaliuk 10-2, while the other match involving Geeta Phogat and Sakshi Malik saw an 8-8 ending but the latter won because of more points at a stretch (four).

Adekuoroye will on Monday lead Mumbai Garuda in their second round of matches against Bengaluru Yodhas at the Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana
