The election which was conducted at the Conference Room of the State Ministry of Information and Strategy, witnessed crucial contest between Adelabu Tolani who scored 67 votes against Lawal Adeola who scored 161 votes to emerge as the Chairperson, Afuwape Ayodele scored 85 votes against Hassan Jamiu who won with 144 votes to clinch the post of Financial Secretary of the Union.
Three offices were returned un-opposed; they were: The General Secretary, Omolola Jagunmolu, Treasurer Musibau Rasaq and Auditor Abel Adeoti while the offices of the Vice Chairman and Assistant General Secretary were to be filled later.
The outgoing Chairman of the Union, Mr. Mukaila Sanusi thanked every member of the Chapel for the support he had from them and encouraged such support for the incoming Executives while also promising his support.
The Chairman of the Lagos State Council, Nigerian Union of Journalist, Mr. Deji Elumoye who presided over the event and sworn in the new Executive pledged his support for them and encouraged the members of the Chapel to continue their loyalty to the Council.
In her acceptance speech, the new Chairperson, Adeola Lawal thanked every member of the Chapel, the Management of the Ministry and the State Council Executives. She promised to continue from where the Outgoing Executives stopped and make her regime an open one for everyone to participate. She also acknowledged that there is no victor nor vanquished in the election and urged the support of every one to move the chapel forward.
The election and the swearing in witnessed the presence of professional Directors in the ministry; Mrs. Ronke Osho, Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr. Toyin Awoshika, Director, Public Enlightenment, Mr. Tunji Bakare, Director Information Production, Mrs. Adetoro Oladapo, Head, Strategy Centre and the Director General Lagos State Record and Archive Bureau (LASRAB), Mr. Bolaji Uthman who are also members of the Chapel.
