The party reasoned that the practice of true federalism in Nigeria will fast track the country’s growth and development.
The National Chairman of the party, Mr Rafiu Salau, who spoke at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party held at the weekend explained that states could be allowed to control their own affairs but still answerable to the federal government, adding that it would ensure progress in the nation’s democracy.
“The party believes that the nation needs pure federalism. The states are the units of the federation therefore the composition of the federalism are the units and the federal,” he said.
The meeting which drew executives of the party from the six geo-political zones of the country, also passed a resolution appreciating the World Bank decision to grant Nigeria $2.1 billion for the reconstruction of parts of the north east damaged by insurgents.
