The Independent National Electoral commission, INEC, on Monday handed certificate of return to the winner of the Anambra governorship election, Chief Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
Receiving the certificate, Obiano thanked members of APGA for their steadfastness, while also calling on aggrieved politicians to join hands with him and his deputy to better the state.
Obiano said, “the time for fighting is over, this is the time for us to join hands together and move the state forward.
“I thank INEC for conducting an exceptional election in Anambra State and as for the people of this state who reposed a lot of confidence on me, I will never disappoint them”.
Chief Lawrence Nwuruku, INEC federal commissioner in charge of Enugu, Ebony and Anambra States, who presented the certificate on behalf of the commission’s chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega, congratulated Obiano.
In his reaction, APGA national chairman, Chief Victor Umeh scored INEC 95% in the election, calling on them to forgive opposition politicians who were calling them names because they lost the election.
