Appoint Igbos into key positions – Ohanaeze chieftain tells Tinubu

In a powerful appeal to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Prof Gregory Ibe, a prominent member of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Advisory Council, has called for a genuine sense of belonging for the Igbo community through meaningful appointments into crucial national positions.

This passionate plea aims to address the perceived imbalance that the Igbos feel within the Nigerian system.

Speaking on recent events in the country, Ibe emphasized the urgent need for both elected and appointed officials at the federal level to reflect and encourage religious and tribal equilibrium, which he believes is vital for the progress of the nation.

Previously advocating for the zoning of the Senate President position to the South East, the Ohanaeze chieftain stressed that fairness, peace, equity, and justice are essential for the prosperity of the nation. While commending Senator Godswill Akpabio and Hon Tajudeen Abass on their respective appointments as Senate President and Speaker of the House, Ibe urged them to take swift action in enacting laws that promote inclusiveness and foster national unity.

Expressing admiration for Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, Ibe called upon him to utilize his position to bring significant development to Abia State in the spirit of “Akuruoulo.” Similarly, he urged Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe to maintain his reputation for courageously speaking truth to power and to continue serving as a shining light for his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), while delivering tangible value to the nation.

Regarding Emmanuel Emeruwa’s victory as Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Ibe stressed the crucial need for a robust partnership between the executive and legislative branches of the government. This alliance aims to revitalize Abia State’s ailing economy and pave the way for its prosperous future.

The plea from Prof Gregory Ibe resonates with the aspirations of many Nigerians, urging President Tinubu to embrace inclusivity, bridge the imbalance, and create a nation where every citizen feels a true sense of belonging and equal opportunities.
