A picture, they say, is worth more than a thousand words. The image of Felix Orode with arms wrapped around his mother after five long years away in Argentina is priceless.

The midfielder, who plays for Sportivo Barracas in the Argentine Fourth Division, had not seen his mom for more than five years since leaving for Europe in search of greener pastures as a teenager, according to a Goal report earlier in June.

Football eventually took him to South America where he played in Argentina and Peru until he found love with an Argentine beauty who bore him two children.

Yet there was longing in his heart for home and the warm embrace of his kin. At the mention of his financial predicament to his team mates at Barracas, they decided to surprise him with a return ticket to visit his mother 8000km away.

Orode finally achieved his dream when he arrived in Nigeria this past week into the welcoming embrace of his loving mother and siblings in the northern city of Kaduna. He posted pictures of his family wearing jerseys of Sportivo Barracas on social media on Saturday.

“Hello friends, here I leave a picture with my mom and my brothers, I send you a big hug,” Orode wrote in Spanish. His club also tweeted the pictures as the fairytale story continued to enjoy coverage in Argentine media.

The 25-year-old comes from a family of footballers as his elder brother Vincent Orode Tchalla recently played for Anges de Notse in Togo.
