Army Declares 100 Boko Haram Members Wanted

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday declared wanted 100 suspected Boko Haram members, calling on the public to offer useful information to ensure their arrest.
The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, a Lieutenant General, made the disclosure at the end of a two day workshop of the Directorate of Army Public Relations, DAPR, 2015 Third Quarter Study Period themed “Enhancing Information Management In Conflicts and Military Operations”.
Buratai appealed to Nigerians to help the army with credible information that would lead to the arrest of the Boko Haram suspects, as part their patriotic service toward bringing lasting peace to the country.
According to Buratai, “Nigerians should give information to stop this menace for all of us to live in peace, we can later talk about a reward.”
The Chief of Army Staff who delivered a paper titled ‘Contemporary Warfare, War Reporting and Dilemma of Military Leadership’, said the presidential deadline of December was to all Nigerians and not the military alone.
He urged journalists to be positive in utilizing the social media for war reporting and appealed to the federal government to put in place measures to check and sanction internet users found culpable of using social media negatively.
Earlier, the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Sani Usman, a Colonel, while presenting large posters containing pictures of the wanted suspects, said that many known Boko Haram terrorists kingpins are no longer anywhere to be found.
Usman said that “members of the public that have any credible information on any of these wanted terrorists should kindly call any of the phone numbers printed on the posters and the information given would be treated discreetly and professionally.”
Among those declared wanted was the leader of the terrorist sect, Abubakar Shekau, whom the military once claimed dead with a reward of N50 million placed on him.
