Namibian contestant Dillish Matthews Sunday emerged the overall winner of Season 8 of the reality show Big Brother Africa, tagged ‘The Chase’, smiling home with the winner-takes-all prize money of US$300,000.
Out of the possible 15 African votes, Dillish got 5, followed by 4 for Cleo from Zambia, three for Elikem from Ghana, two for Melvin from Nigeria and one for Beverly, also from Nigeria.
PANA reports that Dillish’s five votes came from her country as well as Angola, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Born in the Namibian capital, Windhoek, Dillish, 22, is a third year Psychology student.
She became the first woman to win the show since Cherise Makubale from Zambia won the first edition in 2003.
Altogether, 28 house mates drawn from 14 countries in Africa spent 91 days sequestered in the Big Brother House, where they were monitored through ubiquitous cameras 24 hours a day.
The first edition of the reality show was held in 2003.
