Beach Volleyball: Nigeria indicates interest in hosting U19 African Nations Cup

Nigeria has indicated an interest in hosting the U-19 African Nations Cup for boys and girls according to www.aclsports.com

After the end of the 2024 President Cup Beach Volleyball Cup in Kaduna, the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod disclosed Nigeria’s intention to host the tournament last weekend.

Nimrod told www.aclsports.com that the Federation possesses a different cadre of players who can represent the country at various beach volleyball tournaments.

He said the standard and quality of play by younger players at the Presidents Cup was fantastic.

He said, “I am satisfied with the level of play these players have exhibited; some young girls’ and boys have been very fantastic and we are likely to host the U19 African Beach Volleyball Nations Cup. I am happy because the commission has seen players who can key in and represent this country; I am confident we can present players irrespective of where the Nations Cup will take place”.

The Secretary General, Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone 3 states that Nigerian players will embark on a West African tour before the commencement of the Beach Volleyball Olympic Qualifiers next June.

He said, “In beach volleyball, Africa has only one ticket to Paris; the players will be called to camp on 27th April 2024 (this weekend) and they will be having a West African tour in preparation for the qualifiers in Morocco. When Nigeria won a bronze medal at the African Games in Ghana, they made it to the qualifying series of the Olympic Games.

“In the last three Olympic Qualifiers, Nigeria has always finished second which is sad. With the performance of Nigeria’s women’s team, the beach commission is impressed and the country should be looking forward to clinching the sole ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games”
