Benue Governor Refutes Rumoured Rift with SGF Akume

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has refuted rumours of a rift between him and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.

Governor Alia made this known at a symposium organised to mark Akume’s birthday in Makurdi, the state capital.

He described Akume as a national pride and father of Benue State, debunking speculation of discord between them.

“I want to unambiguously debunk the circulating rumours of discord between the SGF and myself. These speculations exist solely in the imaginative realm of opportunists,” Alia stated.

The Governor acknowledged there are pockets of discontent within the party which they are addressing.

However, he said while talks are ongoing, the will of the people who voted them into office will prevail.

Alia urged the public to dismiss baseless rumours, stressing their commitment to truth, unity and progress.

The symposium was aimed at celebrating Akume and also clarifying the Governor’s stance on the rumoured feud with the SGF.
