Biafra Gov’t in gave Over N85M in Palliatives to Southeast, Others – Simon Ekpa

The Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, Simon Ekpa, has revealed distributing over N85 million in palliatives to Biafrans in Southeast and South-South Nigeria from July-November 2023.

The Finland-based lawyer and separatist leader disclosed this in a statement, saying it aimed to boost commitment to actualizing the Biafra referendum. According to photos and videos seen, food items and cash handouts occurred across Southeast locations in the period.

Quoted in reports, Ekpa expressed the palliative was extended to the Hausa community in Borno to show Biafran liberation “is not about hatred for other tribes.” BRGIE, under Ekpa’s leadership, has vocally pursued the referendum while observing weekly Southeast sit-at-home protests to demand Nnamdi Kanu’s release.

In July, a historic two-week sit-at-home occurred across the region. As the campaign for self-determination intensifies, stakeholders will monitor impacts of initiatives like the extensive palliatives program targeting affected populations.
