Ameobi, despite not in the ranks of Super Eagles players who executed Nigeria’s World Cup qualification play-offs against Ethiopia as he watched from the bench was never disturbed not seeing much competitive games since winning his first cap this year.
However, focused-and-diplomatic Super Eagles tactician, Keshi has promised to keep the squad that won the country a place in Brazil for next summer.
Keshi said,”This is the fifth or sixth time i’m taking the same team to play to play a game. Mosr of them are going to be there (in Brazil) if there are no injuries.”
Ameobi and his teammates’ performance against the Italians was even more impressive, given their lack of preparation.
Keshi disclosed:”We flew to Britain right after playing a World qualifing match and played Italy just 48 hours after the game. We did all this without sleeping.”
