BREAKING: Kogi State Speaker Impeached, Replaced by Godwin Osiyi

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Momoh Jimoh, has been impeached. A development which happened on Thursday may have plunged the political crises in the state.

In a related development, impeached Jimoh has been replaced Honorable Godwin Osiyi representing Ogori Mangongo constituency.

Hon. Godwin Osiyi representing Ogori-Magongo has been elected as the new Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly. Hon. John Abah from Ibaji is the new deputy speaker while Hon. James Eneche from Olamaboro is the new Minority leader.

Alhaji Momoh-Jimoh Lawal, former Speaker together with his deputy speaker, Aliyu Aku and Minority Leader, Hassan Bello has been removed by the 17 out of 25 members of the Kogi State House of Assembly.

Reports earlier had that impeachment process against Kogi Speaker Momoh Abdullahi Jimoh started inside the chamber today but the Speaker reportedly ‘adjourn sitting till 2nd February, 2016.

His aides managed to carry the mace, escaped into his waiting official car and zooms off to his residence, but the 17 lawmakers who are bent on removing the Speaker have moved to another location to proceed with the impeachment plot.
