Breaking News: Kabba/Bunu LG Chairman Emmanuel Funsho suspended

Chairman of Kabba Bunu Local Government Council in Kogi State, Honourable Emmanuel Funsho, has been suspended by its Legislative Council following the alleged diversion of funds and award of contract without due process.

In a unanimous decision on Thursday at Council Chamber of the Local government, fifteen elected councilors from the area have suspended the chairman and ordered him to proceed on a three months suspension.

They Invoked section 29 of the Kogi State Local Government law 2008 as amended in year 2001, Olorunmola Yomi Mathew, Council Leader of Kabba Bunu LGA, who briefed the press, said the Chairman’s suspension also followed executive recklessness and disobedient to lawful order.

The Councilors equally accused the Chairman of procuring inferior vehicles as against those budgeted by the council.

He was also alleged of flagrant abuse of employment process and unauthorized approval of soft loan for which the reasons for which the loans where released has not been executed.

The decision according to the Council Leader, said the suspension letter has been transmitted to the Kogi State House of Assembly in accordance with section 17 of the Kogi State Local Government Law 2008.

It would be recalled that workers of the council on Tuesday this week took to protest over the refusal of the chairman to pay them their 10 month salary arrears.
