Buhari’s wife urges governors to establish children’s state assembly

The Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, on Monday appealed on state governors to establish children’s parliament to encourage the capacity building of the youths in preparing them as future leaders.

Aisha who disclosed this at the inauguration of the 4th Assembly of FCT Children Parliament in Abuja, aid that the parliament would provide a platform for the children to participate in national development.

Aisha, who was represented at the occasion by Alayingi Sylva, wife of the former governor of Bayelsa, Timipre Sylva, stressed the need to establish children’s parliament in the 36 states.

While congratulating the executive members of the FCT children’s parliament, she noted the the children assembly would give a voice to the youths and inculcate in them the value of dialogue and collective participation.

At the event, the Permanent Secretary, FCT administration, John Chukwu, said the established parliament was aimed at providing the children with a forum to participate in affairs affecting their country.

Chukwu, who was represented by the Director, Administration and Finance in the FCT, Salisu Kallamu, described the children’s parliament as training ground for prospective political leaders.

In his remarks, the Speaker, FCT Children’s Parliament, Oralgrandeur Nwaka pledged to discharge his duties in accordance with the rules of law.
