CAF CC: NPFL Club Owners storm Uyo for Rivers United
In solidarity with Rivers United Football Club of Port Harcourt as they host USM Algers in the first leg quarter-final of the CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC) in Uyo, members of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Club Owners Association will be on hand to cheer them to victory on Sunday.
The Pride of Rivers as the former NPFL champions are called are the only surviving Nigerian club side on the continent, and will not be lacking support at the Godswill Akpabio stadium on Sunday.
According to the NPFL Vice Chairman, north, Alhaji Suleiman Umar, all hands must be on deck to propel Rivers United to victory.
“Rivers United have done a great job by getting to the quarter-final of the CAF Confederation Cup, which has helped Nigeria retain her 4 slots on the continent. This is no mean achievement and we salute the management and players of the team for this feat. This explains why we the Club Owners are going to be at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium en masse on Sunday to cheer the team to victory”, stated the proprietor of Doma United of Gombe state.
The game is scheduled for 2 pm Nigerian time.
Meanwhile, with the state finals of the Federation Cup holding this weekend across Nigeria, all NPFL games have been moved to the midweek of April 3rd, 2024.
