CAF Confederation Cup: League phase qualifiers emerge

All the eight qualifiers for the mini-league stage of the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup have emerged following the conclusion of the playoff round over the weekend, SavidNews reported Monday.caf

The qualifiers are AC Léopards of Congo; Al Ahly of Egypt; AS Real Bamako of Mali; ASEC Mimosas and Sewe Sport of Cote d’Ivoire; Coton Sport of Cameroon; Étoile du Sahel of Tunisia and Nkana FC of Zambia.

Each group is played on a home-and-away round-robin basis, with the winners and runners-up from each group advancing to the semi-finals.

Following is how the teams qualified:

Difaa Hassani El Jadidi (Morocco) 2-1 Ahly (Egypt) 0-1
Ahly qualifies on the away goal rule

Bayelsa (Nigeria) 0-1 Sewe Sport (Cote d’Ivoire) 0-2
Sewe Sport qualifies 3-0 on aggregate.

Bizertin (Tunisia) 1-1 Nkana (Zambia) 0-0
Nkana advances on the away goal rule

ASEC Mimosas (Cote d’Ivoire) 1-0 Kaizer Chiefs (South Africa) 2-1
ASEC Mimosas advances 3-1 on aggregate

Petro Atletico (Angola) 2-2 Cotonsport (Cameroon) 1-2
Cotonsport qualifies 3-2 on aggregate

Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia) 1-0 Horoya (Guinea) 0-0
Etoile qualifies 1-0 on aggregate

Medeama (Ghana) 2-0 AC Léopards (Congo) 0-2
AC Léopards advances 5-4 on penalties

Djoliba (Mali) 0-0 Real Bamako (Mali) 1-2
Real Bamako (Mali) qualifies 2-1 on aggregate

The draw for the group stage will be held on Tuesday, 29 April, at which the eight teams will be drawn into two groups of four.
