Catholic priest arrested in Rwanda for insulting President Kagame

A Rwandan Catholic priest has been arrested in Kigali on allegations of “inciting civil disobedience” through an ‘unauthorized’ demonstration at the weekend near the residence of President Paul Kagame in Kiyovu, police sources told PANA here Wednesday.

A police spokesperson in the city, Superintendent Urbain Mwiseneza, named the suspect as Rev. Father Eugene Murenzi, the chaplain of the Parish of Kibuye in western Rwanda.

Reliable sources said that Father Murenzi was arrested while conveying a ‘prophetic message on apocalypse’, particularly directed to President Kagamé.
