The People’s Elephant only buried an opportunity out of many that went begging for conversion and the team handler has said that the Nigeria’s representative must be at their best in Alexandria, Egypt if they are to come back to the country unscathed.

He said their visitors came with the mindset to defend throughout the contest but that his players didn’t do themselves any good by not utilizing the few chances that came their way especially in the second half when the game plan of the Egyptians was foiled by the Aba side.

“We had chances but unfortunately we didn’t take our chances. We don’t let loose our game plan but we are assuring Nigerians is that we are going to try our best to ensure that we qualify for the next round irrespective of their antics, Ikhana told Goal.

“We will also go there and what we can get. Yeah, they came with a game plan but it was broken several times in the second half when the ball went through the front of their post without any connection from my players.

“As I am concerned, Smouha’s game plan didn’t work but they were fortunate not to concede more than a goal.”

Enyimba must strive not to concede any goal in Egypt or aim at getting goals of theirs in the return leg to nullify Smouha’s progression bid.

The People’s Elephant lost at the same stage last season to AS Real de Bamako of Mali on the away goals rule after they lost 1-2 in Aba but shocked their hosts 1-0 in the return leg played in Mali.
