Champions Rivers United down Doma to extend lead in Group B

Holders Rivers United extended their lead in Group B of the Nigeria Premier Football League courtesy of a 2-0 victory against Doma United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt on Thursday night.

Nwagua Nyima put the Pride of Rivers in front on 19 minutes after he was set up by Onoja Joseph.

The hosts doubled their lead two minutes before the break with Liberia forward, Albert Korvah firing home from outside the box.

Stanley Eguma’s side top the standings with 33 points from 17 matches, three more than second-placed Lobi Stars.

The Port Harcourt club, who have already qualified for the NPFL Super Six playoff will take on seven-time champions, Rangers in their final game of the regular season on Sunday.

Doma United will need to beat Abia Warriors in their next game again to be sure of a place in the Super Six.

Sunshine Stars and Abia Warriors are the two other teams in contention for a Super Six spot in Group B.
