Kano Pillars duo of attacking Umar Zango and defender Shehu Abdullahi have boasted that the ambition of the Pyramid boys in the next year’s Africa Champions League is to lift the trophy.
The Kano Pillars’ starters who both starred in the back-to-back trophy winning of Nigeria Premier League are currently involved with 30-man invited by the Coach Stephen Keshi led home-based Super Eagles in an preparatory for the African Nations Championship.
In a separate chats with SavidNews.com, the gangling attacker, Zango, believes the Kano based outfit now have the needed experience to play in the continent we had what you would call the baptism of fire last year.
“Now that we are at the continent again, we are poised to winning the trophy this time around. We have learnt our lessons, and God willing we would do Nigerians proud,” he concluded.
While the enterprising defender Shehu Abdullahi trusts his side is capable proving that they are the pillars in the Nigeria league and that their back-to-back win was no flock by conquering Africa to clinch the CAF Champions League trophy.
“We are happy to secure a back-to-back title in the league and have qualified for CAF Champions League. We are focused as a team like Pillar to become the giant of Africa in 2014 by bringing all the weapons in our armoury to bear. Nigerians have nothing to fear, despite we had a poor outing this year, we will deliver in 2014,” he assurably noted.
The duo advised Nigerians not to write the home-based Eagles off in the forthcoming CHAN tournament, saying they have all it takes to pull a surprise at the tournament meant for only players in the domestic league.
