Climate Change: Gov Yahaya Bello Bans Deforestation, Encroahment in Kogi


The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has directed that all forestry activities in Kogi State should be put on hold with immediate effect.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Ayoade Folashade confirmed that the Governor’s directive on Thursday.

Mrs Ayoade explained that the governor’s directive became imperative in view of the increased level of forest encroachment and blatant deforestation which are threatening our economy and environment.

Law enforcement agencies and the general public are enjoined to monitor compliance to this directive.
