Bayelsa United became the first club to progress into the play-off round of the competition after a 3-2 victory on aggregate over How Mine.

The 2012/13 Nigeria Premier League third place finishers conquered How Mine of Zimbabwe 2-0 in the second leg, second round game of the Caf Confederation Cup played at the Sapele Stadium on Saturday.

The Nigerian representatives advanced courtesy of their two second half goals despite suffering a narrow 2-1 loss in the first leg in Bulawayo against the 2013 Zimbabwean Cup runners-up.

The crucial opening goal came from Jafar Buhari ten minutes into the second half before Azubuike Okechukwu completed the double five minutes to regulation time to see the Restoration Boys through to the round of 16 of the Caf Confederation Cup.

Richard Bubagha’s side must wait to find out who they would be drawn against in the play-off round which will be held on April 1.

Bayelsa United’s first ever appearance was in 2009 where they crashed out in the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation.
