Confluence Queens defeated Edo Queens 1-0 to end their four-match winless run in the group B of the Nigerian women topflight at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium on Wednesday.

A solitary strike in the 39th minute from Ifeoma Polinus sealed maximum points for the Kogi ladies to return to winning ways after having gone four straight games without a win in a tension-soaked encounter in Lokoja.

Following the victory, the team’s coach Maja Nayashi hailed his players for their good display against stubborn Benin based opponents.

On their lapses, coach Nayashi promised to work on improving his side’s scoring ahead of their clash with Sadatu Queens in Minna.

While captain Tobiloba Olanrewaju, expressed joy at his side return to winning ways and she believes the victory will propel them to securing victories in their remaining matches.

The victory sees Confluence Queens retain their fifth spot with 17 points from 12 matches played so far.
