Lokoja based Nigeria Women Premier League club, Confluence Queens FC have expressed disappointment following a poor outing at the 2015 NWPL Super Six in Umuahia, Abia State

The Wada Queens lost their two group matches to Bayelsa Queens (4-1) and Delta Queens (1-2) and failed to pick any of the ticket to a third or final match of the Super Six competition hosted by the Abia State government

Assistant coach of the team, Musa Abubakar, who was quoted by the club spokesperson Tosin Ojo, insists his side will return home disappointed but remain optimistic ahead of the coming season.

“No doubt we will all return home unhappy because this is not our target, our target was to lift the cup but our first match cost us the set back, our defense was very poor and we lost 1-4, the players never played to instructions.”

“The second game was a bit better because we made a lot of corrections, and the players came out so determined but just unfortunate we lost.”

Abubakar also, expressed his bitterness over the poor officiating in the competition, especially the second game against Delta Queens.

“The officiating in our second match was very poor and I must say it’s unfair to aid some teams in a tournament like this. A true champions must emerged, this is Super Six and we need a true champion.”

Confluence Queens and Sunshine Queens are the only two teams who crashed out from the group stage, while Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens who finished top of their respective groups will face-off in the final on Thursday, the second placed teams Nasarawa Amazons and Delta Queens will slot it out for the third place position same day.
