Cracks in Kogi APC over constituted Executive

Crisis is looming in the Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) few days after the Deputy National Legal Adviser of party, Chief James Ocholi, inaugurated the State Interim Executive Committee of the party.apc

Ocholi inaugurated the interim committee of the party this week, a situation which might have heightened the battle of supremacy between the party loyalists who submit to the leadership of Prince Abubakar Audu and those of the erstwhile members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the state.

A body known as Ogbabede Concerned Elders in the APC from Dekina local government disagreed with the inauguration alleging that Ocholi was trying to cause confusion in the party.

In a statement signed by some members of the party including, Joshua Edegbo, Inda Ogwu, Daniel Orah, Dirisu Maiyanga, Bello Wada and Garba Ocheni the group urged the national secretariat of the party to ensure that the party was not destroyed at the embryonic stage in the state, alleging that some chieftains of APC were being used to cause crisis in the party, with a view to destabilizing the opposition.

They said the plan to cause crisis in the party by some individuals from the onset was to weaken the opposition in the state, saying that if care is not taken, the entire APC machinery might end up in the hands of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

State interim chairman of APC, Alhaji Mohammed Mabo Kassim while reacting, described the position of the group as an empty talk, saying Chief Ocholi has been doing his best to ensure the growth of the party.

He said that the new members of the interim committee are 31, adding that only six of them were absent during the inauguration.
