Customs Comptroller Laments Use of Fake Presidential Plates for Smuggling

Nigeria Customs Service Zone B Comptroller Chedi Wada has lamented the use of forged presidential number plates to smuggle vehicles across Nigeria.

According to Comptroller Wada, smugglers have also been using fraudulently obtained plates belonging to states, LGAs, MDAs and emirate councils.

He disclosed this while receiving NAN Zonal Manager Bashir Rabe-Mani in Kaduna, saying “Customs will not allow smugglers use old tactics.”

“This is one of the menaces we are having. It is saddening how vehicle smugglers are ridiculing the apex seat in the country by using presidential fake plate numbers,” Wada stated.

The comptroller asserted that customs personnel are well trained to identify forged plates and cannot be outwitted by old tricks.

He warned that ‘it is too bad for them to be playing with the presidency’ and called on smugglers to ‘respect the presidency’ and face consequences for using the institution falsely.
