Deboy’s death a rude shock – Kwara United’s Samson Unuanel

Samson Unuanel, the Technical Adviser of Kwara Utd Fc of Ilorin, has described the death of Enyimba Fc of Aba, Team Manager, Anthony ‘Deboy’ Ekwereonu, as a rude shock to him and his family.

The Nigerian league was hit with sad news with the reported death of Enyimba International of Aba Team Manager on Thursday.

It would recalled that ‘Deboy’ as he is popularly called died on Thur. Jan. 23, at a Dubai, United Arab Emirates hospital after a protracted illness.

Unuanel said on Friday in Ilorin that his death is a great loss to the entire football family in the country and described him as an administrator per excellence.

“I want to send my condolences to his family especially the wife, I pray almighty God give them the fortitude to bear the loss”

“He was a very good fellow to me while I was with Enyimba, even after I left he would always call and give me advice”

“He advised me on many occasion not to abandon my coaching career because he believed I can go places”

“I want to condole with his family, Enyimba Fc and the good people of Aba” Unuanel said.

The late team manager was a successful businessman before he was appointed as an aide to the chairman prior to his elevation to the position of team manager.

Ekwereonu was aged 56.
