Jarett Tenebe, the chairman of the factional Nigeria Football Association (NFA), has praised the sports minister, Dr Tammy Danagogo, for being bold and courageous to stand by the Rule of Law in the latest development in the nation’s football industry.

Tenebe said: “the nation will recall that we took on the illegal Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) under the leadership of Alhaji Aminu Maigari to court. They are a bunch of people who have no respect for court orders and took over the administration of football against the judgment we secured at the Federal High Court, Lagos presided by Justice Okon Abang.

Ever since, we took the legal but slow route to do what is right by writing the President of the Federal Republic, Dr Ebele Jonathan who in turn wrote from his office to the Inspector of Police to obey valid orders of court.

The illegal NFF ran to court as individuals and lost in court. We kept quiet to allow the World Cup to be over before we resume fight.

“Last Monday, Mrs Baribote, went to a Jos High Court and got an interlocutory injunction against the NFF. Bravo to a woman of courage and vision.

“We praise the Minister of Sports, Dr Danagogo Jack who, as a lawyer, responded by respecting the orders of the Jos court by carrying its orders without fear of favour.

We urge the minister to as a matter of fact and urgency to ensure that for peace to reign, he has to start the implementation of the General Dominic Oneya report which Yusuf Suleiman, a worthy predecessor of his, set up and received the report before he left office as minister of sports.

He promised: “anything short of this will not bring peace to Nigerian football.

Any move to do what is proper and right will mean, like we promised Nigerians from time, we shall withdraw our hold and fight. That is the only time when peace and progress will be the portion of Nigerian football.

Tenebe recalled how Bolaji Abdullahi for selfish reasons had done everything to protect these illegalities. We are not surprised that a pro-APC Abdullahi was working in tandem with Maigari whose APC-funders and friends like Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi work with him to frustrate the PDP-government led by President Jonathan.

The frustration visited on Keshi and attempts to sack him were all orchestrated to paint the Federal Government in bad light. We are happy too that Danagogo has met with Keshi after he returned to Nigeria.
