D’Tigress Vow Comeback After Defeat to Olympic Hosts France

D’Tigress, the Nigerian women’s basketball team, suffered a defeat against the host nation France at the 2024 Olympic Games. However, head coach Rena Wakama has assured that her side will bounce back from this setback.

The six-time African champions lost their second group game to France by a score of 75-54. D’Tigress were expected to put up a strong challenge against the French team, having stunned world number three Australia 75-62 in their opening fixture.

Despite the below-par performance against France, Wakama remains optimistic about her team’s chances. Ahead of the team’s final group game against Canada on Sunday, the coach has expressed confidence in her players’ ability to deliver a better showing.

“While we are disappointed with the result against France, we are motivated to put in a strong performance against Canada,” Wakama said in an interview with FIBA.com. “A win will ensure our place in the next round.”

The defeat against France is a setback for the D’Tigress, who have established themselves as a dominant force in African basketball. However, the team’s resilience and determination to bounce back will be on full display as they face Canada in their final group match.
