Dynamite wins Oba Ovoranmwen Gold Cup, Defeats Benin Vipers 1-0
By Agbonifo Obaseki Dynamite force Football Club of Edo North has defeated Benin Vipers of Edo South by alone goal at the final of the Oba Ovoranmwen Gold Cup to emerge winners at the weekend.
The match was played at the Oba Palace sports ground, both team display good football skill with dynamite having the upper hand at the end of the day.
The cup donor chief Solomon lyobosa Edebiri the lkuobasoyemwen of Benin Kingdom, thanked all the teams that part take in the championship and promise that the tournament is going to be an annual event from January to February every year.
“I want to say here that all of you are winners but in a game there must be a champion so Dynamite Force FC of Edo North is the Champion of this year Oba Ovoranmwen and I must say you all played well. I believe in the next edition we will increase the prizes.”
Dynamite went home with #70,000,00 naira cash with a trophy, a set of jersey and medals. Benin vipers went home with #30,000,00 naira, a set of jersey and medals, while Josfeb FC of Edo central won the 3rd place with a set of jersey.
Those present at the occasion was the state commissioner for sports Hon Omorede Osifo, chief Abel Ehigie the Olaye of Benin, Chairman Edo State Football Association, Prof. Emovon, lkpowosa Edebiri tournament director, Hon lgbe, the cup donor Chief Dr Solomon Edebiri and his wife Vivan Edebiri, coach Alabi Assien, edo state football assocition secretary victor edokpayi, Dr Aghedo,Emmanuel Obasuyi aka shakara- Head Coach Football, Edo State Sports Council Coach Onaghase, Former Super Eagles defender lsaac Semitoje and Anthony Emudofe aka poropo and a host of others.
