“E-payment will stop teachers salary fraud” – NUT Chairman

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Kogi State Chapter Chairman, Suleiman Abdullahi said if the State start the usage of e-payment to pay teachers, it will reduce the rate of fraud in the State.

The chairman said yesterday that the screening of primary school teachers from now till next year would not stop the lingering insurable crisis unless some vital measures are frontally taken.

Chairman said to avert the crises in the sector the State should generate an authentic list of primary school teachers by directing all headteachers to write in their own handwriting the names of teachers in their schools.

He further said the names should be confirmed by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) so as to do the right confirmation and screening of names.

Abdullahi said the authenticity of teachers certificates, “the board should try and take sample from the schools that awarded the certificates,” he said.

He gave opinion that their should be no politicisation of the need of schools but their should be a needs assessment to find out infrastructures each school lacks with a view to providing them.

Chairman said any damage to basic education has generated aftermath, so the executive and legislators can do lot of things to revive it back.

He employ people in power to take primary school education seriously because these children are the leaders of tomorrow and the star of the future.

Abdullahi that although the NUT did not declare any strike, teachers will resume classes as soon as we are paid completely their our January, February, March, April, May and June salaries. NAN
