Ebonyi PDP Accuses APC Of Attacking Witnesses

The Ebonyi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating attacks against its members who testified as witnesses before the Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja.

Augustine Nwazunku, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the PDP in the state, alleged that the PDP witnesses were targeted by suspected APC assailants upon their return to their respective homes. Nwazunku made these claims in a statement released to the press in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State.

According to the statement, the PDP members were subjected to brutal assaults by hired thugs, resulting in some of them being driven out of their homes. Furthermore, the party alleged that the business interests of its members were sabotaged through the use of unidentified chemicals, which damaged over twenty thousand fish fingerlings.

The PDP further claimed that APC leaders and chieftains had been intimidating PDP supporters in communities and local governments, warning them against testifying as witnesses before the tribunal.

In response, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the State Chairman of the APC, refuted the allegations, describing them as baseless. He challenged the PDP to provide evidence of the purported attacks on its members to the public. Okoro-Emegha emphasized that the APC-led government of Ebonyi State is fully focused on governance and has no interest in being distracted by any individual or group. He urged the PDP to address internal issues and refrain from making sweeping accusations.
