Eid el-Kabir: Etsu Nupe enjoins Muslims to pray for peace, unity
The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has called on Muslims to use Eid el-Kabir to pray fervently for peace and unity in Nigeria.
The royal father, who is also the chairman of the Niger Council of Traditional Rulers, stated this in a Sallah message at the Eid praying ground in Bida on Wednesday, where he said Nigeria would be the ultimate beneficiary of the spiritual lessons from the Sallah.
He urged Muslims in the state and the country to reflect on the significance of the celebration, noting that without piety, sacrifice, and love, no state or society can advance.
“The significance of the season should go beyond the festivities, but the real essence is to encourage piety, total commitment to Allah, self-discipline, and sacrifice,” the traditional ruler stated.
He also admonished Nigerians to strive to live in peace with each other, irrespective of religious, political, cultural, and ethnic affinity, by avoiding all acts capable of breaching its stability.
According to him: “Peace is the veritable tool of national development, and without it, no nation can prosper to greater heights.
“We should also continue to be our brothers’ keepers to collectively bolster peace, unity, and even the socioeconomic development of the country.”
He also charged the people of his domain to send their children and wards to school to acquire both Western and Islamic education.
He then prayed for the safe return of the Muslim Ummah presently in the Holy Land, performing the 2023 pilgrimage.
