Emenike in brace rush as Eagles move closer to World Cup

African Champions, Nigeria are one leg in Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup finals after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Ethiopia in Addis Ababa.

Both goals came from the boots of Fenerbache marksman Emmanuel Emenike, the top scorer at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations finals that Nigeria won in South Africa.

Godfrey Oboabona’s timing defensive prowess denied the Ethiopians a sure goal with 24 minutes gone after Saladin Said fired past goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.

Twelves minutes into the second half, the worst came on Nigeria after shot stopper Enyeama fumbled a short pull out from the left, shooting the home side in a lead.

But the Super Eagles proved their mantle as African champions when Emmanuel Emenike stole a space to fire back the equalizer seven minutes later.

The surprised victory was secured for Nigeria after Emenike was fouled inside the yard box slotted home the spot kick to gift Nigerians another great day.

Nigeria will on 18th November, 2013 welcome Ethiopia in Calabar for a mere formality rematch tie in a ticket bid to Brazil 2014 World Cup.
