Ex-NFF President Galadima urges Kano Govt to support Ex-internationals

Former chairman of defunct Nigeria Football Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima has urged the Kano state government to support the activities of retired footballers in the state.

Galadima, who spoke at an award ceremony organized by Kano Ex Footballers Association, which was held at the Kofar Mata Indoor Sports Hall, commended the association for their tireless service to football “I continue to commend your activities, and your services to the game, I think you should be called Veteran footballers and not ex-footballers”.

“If you are retired you would not have gone to Kaduna and won the second place trophy, in the Sardauna Memorial Unity competition, in a competition that featured other states, we appeal to the state government to support your activities”

“This appeal is so that, you can host Nigeria, in Kano by bringing you colleagues from all parts of the country to come to Kano to see what football is like in Kano, particularly at this crucial time, when Kano Pillars is marching towards winning its third title consecutively, to become the first club in our league history that achieved such feat” Galadima stated.

The chairman of the group. Rabiu Mahmud popularly referred to as “Pele” in his soccer hey days stated that, the decision to honor the recipients was in efforts to encourage those in the sector , adding that, the award will motivate others to strive more in the area of sports development.

According to him, one time NFF henchman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima worked tirelessly in the pursuit of the development of sports in the state, adding that, Galadima’s contribution towards sports development was enviable.

Rabiu said “Kano Ex-Footballers are in the know of certain personalities who have sacrificed so much for the development of sports and Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima stands out, for Nasiru Gawuna, his contribution towards the development of our youths you can not ignore, today he is the president of YSFON, Gawuna is never tired of investing his resources in developing our youths in sports,”

Those honored were “ there are many others, but for this year we have selected to honour, Ibrahim Galadima,(former NFF chairman) Nasiru Gawuna,(president YSFOPN and Kano state commissioner for Agriculture) Salisu Sambajo,(sports philanthropist) Garba Ahmed, (sports philanthropist) Abubakar Nuhu Dan Baram, (member LMC and Kano stwste commissioner for sports), before now we know how he has contributed immensely, so with Sharu rabiu Ahlan,( Kano FA chairman), Yusuf Abdullahi Ata,(Member representing Fagge Constituency in the State House of Assembly) Ado Abdullahi, (director kano State Sports Council) Professor Musa Garba,(Director of Sports Bayero University, Kano) Dr Shehu Garba (Provost Saadatu Rimi College of Education,Kano)”.
