The last year finalists failed to take lessons from their oustered city rivals and title holders Kogi United as they played out a scoreless draw at full time before edged out through penalty shootout lottery played at the Kogi Confluence Stadium.

On Wednesday, reigning champions Kogi United missed out of the 2015 National FA Cup finals for the first time in at least nine years after 3-0 defeat via penalty to another non-league Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in semis with a 1-1 draw at regulation time.

FMC recorded their third victory in the competition after earlier edged out Kogi State University 4-3 and FC 24 1-0 in the preliminary and quarter-final respectively before latest shocker.

Newest giantkillers Idah United who earlier dumped out Koton Karfe Ambassadors 2-0 and walked over Ankpa Leopards who failed to turn up in the opening and last eight round respectively will face famous stingers FMC in the finals scheduled to hold on Monday, May 4.

This is the first time two non-league sides have reach the finals of the state Federation Cup with KABU FC the last outfit to win trophy after 4-3 victory via penalty over Kogi United in 2012.

Kogi United are unlikely to defend the won in last year’s state Federation Cup after they defeated local rivals, FC Lokoja, 7-6 on penalties at the same venue.

Meanwhile, FMC and Idah United have qualified for the National Federation Cup finals after both reached the state Cup finals.
